Why I write

Words are one of the most powerful tools that we have access to. Words have the power to uplift or destroy the foundation of everything we believe. Words do not exist without each of us breathing them in and breathing them out.

Words are one of the things I cherish most in this world. They are the silent utterings of my heart to my Father. They are heritage passed down from wrinkled hands to those brand new. They are the whispered love stories in the ear of my beloved. They are the laughing tales over bedtime with my toe-headed little girl. They are the pulse of hope spoken over my friends in times of need. They are light, love, laughter, and longing. Words are why I write.

Our words matter and I attempt to use them wisely and with purpose. I write because over time, God has given me things to say and writing is a way that I can speak what is on my heart with sincere intention. Writing allows me to think more deeply, share more honestly, and exist more vulnerably. Writing allows you to see from the outside what is on the inside of me. Writing is a window that peers into the depths of my soul.

As a writer, I dream of one-day folding back the pages to a book, breathed out by God, written by the words of my heart. Until that day arrives from endless pursuit and continual prayer, I will write here for whomever chooses to read. I will write about reality because after all, it is all that we know.

I will write words of honesty, of transparency, of hope, of healing, of grief, of sorrow, of laughter, of embarrassment, of excitement, of joy, of devotion, of growth. I will write diligently the words that God gives me in the aspiration that they would speak to your heart the message He intends. I will write out of obedience and joy for my Father because that is what He has called me to do.

As you read what is written, I invite you to sit on the edge of your chair or prop up your feet or lean in like a dear friend. I invite you to be just as you are, wherever you are, and hear from my greatest love as He whispers truth and guidance into my ear for me to share with you.

If these words come across your screen and you are questioning the existence of this God I speak of, the One who is One with Jesus and the Spirit…know you have been prayed for. The words typed out here are for you; intended to draw you closer to Him as you walk through your doubt into a renewed perception of self and love for the very lover of your soul.

Lean in dear friend and grab a glass of tea…let us chat, even if only for a moment.
