Trust in His Provision
The provision of God does not always come wrapped in the way we might expect, anticipate, or even hope…but the provision of God always comes.
I have looked His provision square in the eyes at times and despised what I saw in the moment, only to look back with affection and adoration.
When I marched into my first day of work over 500 miles from everything I ever knew, I despised the provision; but in the days and weeks and years that followed, I found the greatest of friends and opened doors full of blessings and joy.
When my husband came home every day at 8pm after a long day of selling cars to make ends meet, I despised the provision; but I found pleasure and fulfillment in being his soft place to land with our baby girl laying peacefully in our arms.
When I packed boxes full of toddler clothes, fond memories, and promises fulfilled and drove away from where I thought my future was held, I despised the provision; but I uncovered new adventures, unseen promises, and am living in some of the most thrilling days of my life.
With hindsight being the 20/20 view that it is and my heart being softened towards the Provider, I realize that any despise of his provision was simply distrust in disguise.
With each opportunity to trust Him through the provision that He chose, my eyes became opened to believe how much He loves me and my people far more than I ever imagined.
So, dear friends…what is the one thing, the main thing, that you are longing for this year? Is there a desire in you burning so brightly it cannot be contained? Or a dream come true bubbling up inside of you that you know would change life for the best? Or a promise-fulfilled that is capsizing your time and energy and thoughts?
What if the very thing that fills your dreams and occupies your mind is what God asked you to lay down this year on the altar of your life? Would you trust Him enough to lay it all down?
Sometimes God asks us to lay our greatest desires, our greatest dreams, and our greatest blessings on the altar of our lives in order to show us that He is the One who provides.
Abraham walked up a mountain with his promised son, Isaac, with the intention of taking His life as a sacrifice to God. Abraham trusted God with his greatest desire, his dream fulfilled, and his greatest blessing because He knew that God could be trusted. He knew that God would make good on His promise and that He is the God of more. He was willing to lay it all down because He trusted the Provider. (Genesis 22)
When we find a willingness of heart to lay our very lives on the altar of trusting God…we always walk away with more.
When we hand our marriages over to God instead of seeking the answers of the world, we walk away with more.
When we set aside our performing and our striving and our achieving to simply be with God, we walk away with more.
When we lay down our dreams at the foot of the cross and trust the One who comes through on His word, we walk away with more.
When we are willing to accept that His love for us surpasses our understanding and surrender our striving into His care, we always walk away with more.
He is the God of more and He can be trusted to provide our every need and fulfill the desires that He places carefully into our hearts. Do not be deceived into despising the provision of God just because it comes in packaging that you did not foresee. Instead, choose to trust that out of His great love for you will flow goodness and mercy and kindness all the days of your life.
Choose to trust and be willing to lay it all down before the God of more.
